Day 20 progress

11 eggs.... 2 hatched... doing fine... 3 have pipped(?)(Little hole in shell), other 6 - two have rocked around a little, other 4 nothing so far...

So do I leave the hatched ones in there?(hatched today at 3pm and at 8pm) they are playing(sort of) and running into the other eggs and knocking them around.

Congratulations on the new chicks!
I'd leave them in the bator and give the others a chance to finish hatching.

Have a Black Austrlorp Rooster...

Hens are 1 RIR, 1 Barred Rock, 3 ISA Browns, 3 New Hampshire reds.

The odd thing.....

I get two different kind of eggs. One kind is a really brown egg and big, the other is more...manilla folder colored, or kacky colored and smaller.... All hens are roughly sme age...

The Kacky colored eggs all have hatched.... none of the darker brown eggs...

I am not sure which one lays which but I found it odd that all of the lighter hatched and not so much as a pip hole out of the dark brown eggs....

Thoughts anyone???

I'm assuming they were all candled to make sure they were fertile? It's only day 20 I think you said, so it could be another day.....
Not sure how many hens a roo can play with in a 24 hr. period of time??? He may have needed a cigarette or the day off between girls
