Oh sorry, no pics. My PC crashed and I'm using a new laptop and haven't loaded the doo-dahs for my camera in here yet.
Update anyway!
I gave the Frizz girls 8 doz Am' eggs on the evening of the 4th. The next morning, there were 2 dozen 'uncovered' so I bought them inside and stuck them in an incubator. And there are 12 broody Frizz girls, not 13 --- either one was faking or just 'in the pile' laying an egg.
This morning, I candled the 72 eggs they did cover and found 4 clears and 2 bloodrings.
That leaves 66 developing Ameraucana eggs --- not bad for just piling eggs on the coop floor!
I haven't candled the other 2 doz I put in the 'bator yet.
Hahaha! Now ask me why I have a pipping duck egg in my 'bodice'.
Quote:
SOOOOOit's your fault all my broodies are laying around on the floor stealing eggs from each other! 4 of the first 5 that went broody are frizzles a la you! Then the disease just spread.
Everyone be warned - Dipsey's frizzle eggs are carriers of contagious broody disease!
I don't know what's going on with my mottled Cochin bantams and Modern Game bantams. Fertility has been poor since they started laying again this year.
Hahaha, Had a broody duck on a nest w/just 1 developing egg. I gave it to the Frizz girls and broke up her nest. Lone d'ling is pipping this morning and I didn't want the Frizz girls fighting over it while I had all their other eggs inside. I just moved it to a spare 'bator.
Congrats Lisa. The eggs I got from you are hatching now. So far 4 nn's 2 silkies andd 1 cukoo it's a male. Is it possible that one of the silkies could be blue? One looks blue and the other looks black so far. They are precious. So that's 7 out of 12, one didn't develop (it started, so was fertile), at least one of the other 2 has pipped. So, 100% fertility and we'll see about the hatch when finished.
ETA, went to look at the listing that I purchased and yes, blues are definately a possibility!!
Hi Patti! So soon? (hehe, time passes quickly when they are hatching somewhere else)
Way to go!!! Can't wait to see pics!
If the father was the white Silkie, it could be black. If father was the splash Silkie, it would be either blue or splash. The only 2 silkie-feathered green-egger chicks I've kept are looking quite respectable (a splash and a blue).
I just realized I CAN take pics and then load them later, duh.
