Day 20.

Y'all have me tempted me lol! Spare bedroom staring into the incubator all day it is then lolol!
My incubator is in the lower level of walk out, where the grooming table also resides so I usually plan to groom the dog(a multi all day thing) on hatch days. Saves my legs from running up and down the stairs:lol:.

Thank you! My sets are staggered, so my hatch days are Nov 7th, 9th, and 12th. A week long exciting, excruciating roller coaster, lol.
I have one in the incubator now that tomorrow is its 21 day mark. I couldn't imagine a week! i think after this hatch I'm gonna wait awhile before i hatch anymore, I'm a worrier and impatient! I didn't realize how nerve wracking it could be! Before i started i thought it was simple but found out that it is far from simple lol.

Yes, there is a lot involved! It isn't a "set it and forget it" project, for sure. I had chickens 6 years ago and incubated eggs from my hens. This year I decided to get back into chickens and bought an incubator. I had excellent hatch rates before, so I wasn't prepared for the puny hatch rates of shipped eggs! It was discouraging. But, this site is an excellent resource! I have tweaked my method and my hatch rates have increased. For me, the worrying part has lessened, so the excitement part has increased, yay!
The next phase is watching them grow and agonizing over when I will get that first egg and determiniing who laid it. Then the next one, and the next...
Just a warning, though, I originally planned to start out slow with 4-6. That was in July. I now have 13 in the grow out pen @ 2+ months old, 2 @ 5 weeks old, 5 @ a week and a half old, 33 eggs set and 10+ eggs being delivered today. Chicken math is very real and very powerful, lol!

I'm new to chickens, i started a few months ago and i enjoy it! I only have 4 eggs in the incubator but only because i only want to add a few and a certain kind, these eggs are either gonna be silkie/bantam cochin (is what my hen is) and my roosters are Bantam cochin and the other is a naked neck silkie! Another question, i can't get my humidity about 61% is that okay? I don't want them to shrink wrap!

That is tough. Opening the incubator is out of the question, you'll lose the humidity you have. So, adding more water is the only thing you can do. Are your water reservoir full already? Are your air vents open? How dry is the air in the spare room/house? How certain are you about the accuracy of your humidity reading? Did you check it before starting your eggs?
