Well, we watched a brown egg hatch and it is drying off now but the first one keeps pecking at it...is this normal? Also the temp and the humidity have risen. I am assuming the chicks and the open wet shells are responsible? Do I just ignore the temp, humidity and the pecking chick? I want to reach in there and pull the poor picked on chick out of there but I won't

All normal! If the humidity goes too high, I usually put a pencil crossways in the corner of the bator to prop it open. The temps will stay up, but some humidity escapes. I only do it if it goes to 80%.

Thanks Cynthia. I figured it was normal due to open wet shells and wet chicks but still worried about the humidity with the unborn chicks. Have five more pipping now.

At least, now I know I can do the blue orp eggs

Boy, you've really had a busy month w/ Gabby having puppies, getting a new puppy and now cute new baby chicks. Ooooh! I want some babies!
