Day 21 and no pips

When it gets to that point, and bits of shell are falling off leaving membrane exposed, you can dab some coconut oil on the membrane to keep it moist. If there are active blood vessels, you'll see them - because the oil turns the membrane translucent.

You're welcome! Now I'm headed off to bed myself. Betcha you'll wake up to a bunch of babies bouncing around in there. In fact, you might set your alarm for a few hours from now to check on them. Sounds like there may be some hatching tonight :)

And 2 more began zipping while I was asleep! 😍

I believe it may be time to assist the blue egg. It has managed to get this far, but th opening is toward the pointy end of the egg and it seems to not be able to kick free from it. Thoughts?

Does this look like omphalitis? The wax sealed Maran just hatched and is dragging this behind 😞
I don't know if it's related to omphalitis, or could lead to it - but what I generally do is to remove the chick to a clean environment with paper towels, where it is isolated and other chicks can't disturb it. The trailing cord and membrane will dry up and fall off on its own. If the chick seems to have trouble with it, AND it's clearly NOT actively absorbing yolk, then I snip the cord with a sterile pair of scissors.

How many hours since it pipped?
Any changes in the size or shape of the hole since you posted the photo?
What is the beak doing - any chewing or yawning motions?
Are there any active blood vessels in the membrane?

There was no chewing anymore I could see, head was in the small end of the egg and one wing was stuck out. Right as I went to try and pull the half off it was kicking at it was able to break it enough then shortly after pulled it’s head out of the small end. It too has an open naval but nothing dragging as the Maran has.
