Day 21 and not a blinking peep! UPDATE - PICS!!!

Yay!!! everybody. Glad you are getting pips - it will take forever for them to hatch now. (Not really, but it will seem like it!) Good time for a nice single malt scotch...with or without a little soda. Better yet, I'll have one for you!

Well, I have a whole chick now! My first pip was about midday and it had popped right out by 9pm. So I'm about ten hours ahead of you. Still just one other pip but it's nearly midnight now so they're probably resting till morning... Or do they hatch out overnight too? I'll wake up tomorrow and log on and you'll probably have a whole pile of chickies by then...

Yay for you! Get some sleep now...I'm looking forward to see how things are looking for you in the morning.

Ahhhh, I wish I could get back to Scotland sometime soon. Last time I was there was in 2000, for a study abroad program.

Alas, the young kids (or wee bairns, to put it in your parlance) will keep us stateside for a while....

Here's the first one out, snapped last night:

And here's what I woke up to this morning:

Still got seven more eggs in there and these two are now playing football with them!

From Aus. congratulations! I've been waiting with you guys to see the peeps. I had a broody hen on 6 eggs and she hatched out 4 chickens on day 20. They are 1 week old today. 2 eggs were clear, but we're happy with 4 babies, they are beautiful, black with yellow bottoms so sweet. Good luck with yours hope they all hatch out for you. when I work out how to put a picture on here I will do so.

Hi Hennie, and thanks! And congrats to your mama hen getting the chicks out on day 20. I'd LOVE to have early ones, the overdue waiting is just killing me. And a few others too, going by the comments of folk in the same boat just now...

Posting pics is fairly easy. Just make sure they're low resolution and not 10 megapixels or anything! (I always set my camera to its lowest res before I take pics to post.) Then click on 'Uploads' in the menu bar at the top of the page (it'll open a second page for you) and follow the steps. Once you've got your pics uploaded you click on 'My Uploads' at the bottom right of the page and you'll see small thumbnails of all your pics. Just click on the bit underneath the pic you want to post that says Image: - and copy and paste it into your post (dead easy by toggling between the two open pages). The bit you need to post will look something like this:

And when the post goes up on the forum it'll show your picture! Hope that helps a bit...
