Day 21 and Nothing....... Now Day 23 and Nothing...... Update Page 3

Waiting is the hard part! If you think it's hard at day 21 try day 25 on chicken eggs!

Good hatching vibes coming your way. And hopefully they don't wait until day 25!

Ok Day 22 and NOTHING..............................

I am going nutty

Same here. Last night I sat out in the coop and heard a little peep under my broody but couldn't see anything. This morning I ran out there expecting to see and hear all 7 blue silkie babies, but heard.....Nothing.
I carefully lifted her a little and just saw eggs.
Oh the agony!!!!!!!!!!!

day 21 and nothing, I've only got one egg left under a broody & its my first time. I'm trying to figure out if I should go & buy a day old chick today, but what if my broody can't hatch her egg today?

I've read somewhere it can take up to 24 hours after a pip to hatch...I'm hopeful for you!

Come on chickies....come on!

Might need to give them a bit of help. Candle the eggs - if you see the baby moving around in the air sac you can likely open them up and have a healthy chick. If you wait too long they will be too weak. Use a strong light - I use my projector.

Don't open eggs under a broody unless you hear peeping and see them in the air sac because she may have a delayed egg.

They are green eggs I havent had good luck candeling and everyone told me NOT to open the cover.

Luann...opening them up is not good advice.
People have been waiting up to 25 days here for chicks to hatch! if they just 'opened them up' they would have killed them.
Be patient and let them hatch naturally.
I'm on day 21 too....and waiting.

Thank you all for the advice. I just really hope they hatch at least some. My kids have been so excited for them, you would think they have never seen a chick.

YES people...do NOT OPEN up the eggs!!! I've been reading many posts where they get impatient and start messing with the eggs. I just shake my head.

I've hatched chicks on the 25th day before.
Let nature take it's course.
