Hi all, first time posting and hatching!

Currently I’m hatching on day 21, eggs are all showing signs of pipping at midnight, around 3am I got up to check on the incubator I’ve heard chirping then this morning when checked again I heard nothing since and no more progress of hatching.

I am really struggling with my humidity since lockdown, it’s stable at 60% but I still can’t increase it. My incubator says to spray water on the eggs 6-8 times a day but doesn’t that defeat the purpose of lockdown?

Am I just jumping the gun and need to be more patient?

Any thoughts appreciated

You're right. I would never spray water on the eggs. I think they do spray goose eggs and some duck eggs though, but never chicken eggs. You could stick a piece of clean sponge soaked with water in a baby food jar or similar...something the baby chicks can't accidentally tip over or get into. Then quickly open the incubator to put it in there.

70% is better, but 60 should be okay and I'd leave it alone actually unless it falls further and you can't get the incubator to raise the humidity itself.

They rest/sleep a lot when pipping, zipping, and hatching so I'd try get some rest yourself!

Welcome to BYC! :frow

Wishing you a great hatch!

Thank you Debbie very reassuring!

Since the initial post 5 out of 9 eggs have made huge progress. I believe they will hatch tonight. They have been chirping away.

Unfortunately my incubator doesn’t control the humidity, I’ve been using a hydrometer. I brought a cheap incubator of Amazon. I’ve had no problems until lockdown

Once one hatches, the humidity will climb. Mine's gone up to 90% when I had a dozen all hatching at once. I've cracked each side for a few seconds just to try get it down so it doesn't start raining in there. 😊
