Day 21, ulcer, and Day 22?

Thanks guys for talking me down from the edge.

It was very nice to hear some encouragement.
Well, to add to my list of "things I probably shouldn't have done", I candled the eggs last night. And whether it was my maglight, the chicks, or my imagination, I saw movement in both eggs. At this point are my chicks going to be all mushy for being late?
Also when should I throw in the towel?

If you listen really really hard the are in there doing the chicky laugh at you for wanting them to hurry up.

Keep the humidity up and the bator closed for another day at least, if today is Day 22. The hatch may be delayed. The only reason I mess with mine at the end of Day 21 is because I know my values (temp, humidity) were near perfect throughout and they should have pipped by then. If for some reason I think my temps have been low for a time, I would not do that.

Okay, I know I am the biggest dork in the world, but I held an egg up to my ear, just like luvzmybabz said to, and I heard a chicky laugh! Okay it wasn't a laugh, but in one egg I certainlly heard scratchy noises and a "cheep".

With my incubating skills it will be a miracle if these hatch, but there is still hope!

when you candled the eggs did it look like any of the chicks had poked through the air cell yet?? Im so wary about hatching anymore because last time was a complete disaster. 3 of my chicks whom i know where all alive were dead by the time i broke them out of the egg on day 23. I knew i should have gone with my gut and helped the chicks out. If you saw the chicks in the air cell, you might want to just make a little pip on your own to make sure they dont run out of air. If i had done this with my chicks, they would have survived.

Last night at midnight, it didn't look like they were in the air sac, but if she is chirping, she would need air right?

Josie...I have had chicks hatch on day 25 and be perfectly fine, without any problems.....give them acouple more days...
If you candle down from the big end of the egg maybe you can see the air cell that way......

go ahead and candle them again?? i know some have had late hatchers that are fine but i just worry so much with what happened last time. If you hear scratching, the chick is probably ready to come out, sometimes they just need a little help. I dont think making the first pip yourself would do any harm. What was your humidity at during incubation?
