4 have pipped, but there is just chips missing, but no real hole. Is that okay? I keep wondering how long it will take them to actually pip a real hole.
Its exciting, I am trying to stay busy. I can't believe how timely they are, 4 pipping within hours of eachother. I would love to get in there and candle, but I PROMISED myself to not open that bator unless its a life or death thing. It's hard not to interfere.
I got everything washed and cloroxed, and ready to go, except I send DH to get some more starter-grower, and the feed store sent him home with layer-broiler-turkey feed!!!!!!!
Pinenot, how is your post-op chick? I guess you will be busy on Friday (?) with your pollocks. I'm hatching buff laced and white crested black.

They can take up to 24 hr. to completely pip out. I have had some start pipping and other surpass them that started later. it kind of gets like popcorn when they start.

im on day 20 got 6 andalusian leghorn crosses .hope all gose well.

Six have pipped, 2 of those are working on their zips. The first "near pips" have not done any more.
I think that when they pip, but don't break a real hole is the scariest part cause I worry that they will run out of air. My anxiety is sooo high!

Three hatched pretty close together. I went to sleep on the couch at three thirty. At 4:30, two more hatched.I have 3 to go, 2 pipped a bonafide hole, and one has no progress. My Buff laced Polish hatched great, the white crested black are a bit behind, real laggers, and getting 9 out of 18 on day 7, well most of the 9 that were clear and the white crested. Maybe they are harder to hatch?
All the hatches were clean. No blood, no yolk, sweet little things that see me and want to check me out. Not timid.
I had moved them to a brooder due to that lightbulb in my hatcher that they could reach, they touched it with their beaks a few times and I was too worried.
