It's day 21 and I was looking foward to being a grandmother today but no peeping from the eggs and the broody is as usual as she is. I read that the hen will push away bad eggs, correct? So I shouldn't be worried or should I? What behaviours from the hen should I be looking for so I know when the hatching is close?
I prepared my camera for pictures and videos, yet nothing is happening.

One chick has already hatched and there are more on their way! This one is definately light sussex x black cochin cross. Oooh I can't wait for more to hatch!! I'll try to get pictures of it peeking its head out of mama's fluff! So what do the newborns do during their first week? Stay under mama and rest?

Another chick has been breached! One egg is cracking and there is movement inside, no peeping surprisingly. The last egg doesn't show much movement so it will be the youngest chick

Chicks don't always hatch on day 21

Some hatch late. Somtimes due to low temps, which slow

development down. However I'm sure you'll have chicks soon.

When my hens hatch chicks, I always notice the hen 'adjusting'

the way she sets, and make a pretty purr noise when the chicks

move around. Once the chicks are fluffy, you'll also see little beaks

peaking through mom's feathers.

Update when they hatch, please.

edited Yes, most times they will push bad eggs away. However last year I

had a determinded broody who had eggs explode under her.

Thanks. Wish mama would look like her old self. She kinda looks like a zombie, being in the makeshift brooder all the time.
