day 22 and no babies yet :(

I'm so sorry. Unfortunately the only time I have assisted is after they had already pipped so can't advise you.

Well to encourage them you can tap on the side of the incubator and just talk to them. They will recognize as there mother. The higher pitched the voice, honestly the better! LOL

Chicks do take a break. You can check on him again with the light and or tapping if you want.

I am fairly new at the hatching thing also, but it makes since to me that if the chick is making noise, it has pipped internally into the airsac. If not, it would have no air to chirp. What breed are the eggs? Sorry if you already posted this info, but I have read that some breeds tend to hatch a little later than others. I would also recommend, not, opening the incubator any more than you have to, because if there is an external pip on the bottom of an egg, and you can not see it, you risk the possibility of loosing too much humidity and shrink wrapping the poor little chick in the membrane. Also, if your temp is a little low, it could delay the hatch a little. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Well not too good of news as of now I have lost all but one:( I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong I turn them 3times a day, temp is at 97 and humidity at 70% give or take when I open the incubator. So upset about this I'm ready to give up. :(((

Really Really sorry to hear that! Maybe we can figure it out.

What is the temp during incubation (before hatch days) and what kind of incubator?

On your next hatch, try and keep the temp at 99-100. That is the ideal range for hatching. Good luck! I know it's heartbreaking to lose eggs :( Unless you live in a very dry climate, try keeping the humidity at 25-35% until day 18, then bump it up to 65-70. You'll have better results.

It's an home made incubator, when incandle them at 7 days they are furtile, I then do it again at 14 days and yes all moving inside and again at 18 days by that time nothing. Don't see any kind of movement. On two different batches I have 4 that are at day 21 and nothing today sometimes they are late but I believe they are also all dead but they are still in the incubator.. It's very stressful. I also lost my laying hen, went out yesterday and she was dead outside. I'm just ready to give up. Sorry for the rant just can't deal with the stress thing. Not much luck I guess lol

(((HUGS))) Mine is a home made bator too. They can be touchy, that's for sure. Rant all you like. I had a similar rant last night when I lost a chick to a feral cat, and then discovered all my prized eggs were dead (but the cheap eggs hatched. Go figure). Give it time, calm down, and when you are ready to try again, come back for advice. :)

I just have 2 more batches due in different days but I guess we will see if I get any. Just so confusing at all the different ways and different advice is out there. Love this site!
