day 22 and no babies yet :(

Now my next problem, my other six in the other incubator one has pipped this afternoon and was chirping well ,now the hole in the egg is a bit bigger and every thing is quiet and no movement ,looks dead to me but will wait till 2morr and see what happens. All the others are really dark so hopefully some might pip in the night.. All this is stressing me out. lol

not sure if it varies by breeds, but my barred rock eggs all finished hatching 24 to 26 hours after first hole appeared. It seems to take a lot out of them getting that first hole open and they will lay hours no movement, then slowly will make it a bit larger and rock and make peeping noises until finally zipping around and coming out a day later. The ones that hurt me are the ones I know I say rocking close to hatch day that never move again. I know they were alive right until then and guess just weren't strong enough to punch their first hole :/

My last batch just finished hatching today. Out of 12 eggs I lost 2 to being unfertilised, 3 that moved and never hatched at the end, 3 I never saw move and didn't hatch and 4 that came through fine but late by 2 days.

My first batch are now a month old, Out of 12 eggs I had 8 hatch, one died while hatching and one died a week or so after hatching from constipation (my fault, didn't notice his exit was covered by dried poo until too late to save him). Due to fact these are brown eggs, candeling is hard for the novice I am.

I'm blaming the low rate of hatching the 2nd batch to getting an egg turner that rocks them back and forth. Not only did I get half as many to hatch than I did from hand turning 3 times a day, but the chicks appear weaker than the first batch. I don't think they get enough exercise from rocking as they do from a 180 degree roll over. When I do my next set, I'm going back to hand turning even if it is a pain.

Little bloke didnt make it.All the other ones seem dead in the shells ,dont know what went wrong turned them 3 times a day, kept temp at 99.6 and humidity at 55% for 18 days then 70% for lockdown .Gutted . So been and bought 2 hens and a cock miniature bearded silkies and going to let nature do its bit ,will see what happens now.

So Sorry!! It sounds like you did everything right so I am not sure what went wrong either! Besides the possibilities that the eggs were at fault. Good luck with your new chickens though!
