My first hatch was disastrous also, I think alot of newbies have exactly the same experience. That being said, please don't give up the idea of hatching. Perhaps if a friend or someone you know has a proper incubator that will keep your temps and humidity right where it needs to be you will have a more successful hatch. And then, my friend, you will become as addicted to this whole process as the rest of us. It is worth its weight in gold to watch your babies hatch but there are rules to be observed. Try again but this time use a proper incubator. Homemade ones are tricky even for the experienced hatcher. Just an opinion from a... still-learning everything I can about this process... addicted chicken nut.
