This is my first time hatching and raising chickens and so i have this homemade incubator and just two eggs are growing! They haven't hatched yet and its day 22. When I first put the eggs in the incubator it was around 2:30ish and the temp and humidity were rising to the correct level while they were in there so maybe today is day 21? Anyway, nothing's happening so far but i heard some pecking noises and sometimes hear one single chirp but it might just be my ears messing with me lol. Thanks!

Go wash all of your floors, deep clean the kitchen and the bathrooms. Catch up on your laundry. Tie your hands behind your back, be prepared to stay up all night watching and waiting. Go boil a pot of water... make some tea. Finally, you can do the crazy chicken person thing, and start standing over the bator and chirping at your egglets.

Thanks guys! i really hope they'll hatch! i got really worried last night and kinda got really sad. today i tried putting my ear up to the incubator and i heard some pecking noises! i got so happy. could they be at the internal pipping stage?:fl

Welcome to BYC!!! :welcome
The first day is 24hrs after you put them in the Bator. Also, it isn't uncommon for the chicks to be a little late. If you hear chirps and pecking I'm sure they are fine.

Time to get your brooder acclimated to proper temp. Make sure the heat is adjusted to a safe temp as well. Place a thermometer in the brooder to calculate to warmth accurately. Do you have marbles to put into your water dish?
Here they come! Exciting time is it not?
