Not sure if this will work or not, but here's the video of Birdzilla hatching. I just can't believe how he/she PUSHED that eggshell in half. I have others who have been pipping all day and still aren't here. This one pipped a little hole and them WHOOMP - Out it came!
Up to 13 perfect and healthy little peeps! I'm so tired. Setting my alarm for 4am because there are at least 5 more that should be ready by then. OH MY. Whose idea was it to put 41 eggs in the bator??!!!!
41 EGGS!!! I THOUGHT THAT I WAS DOING A A BUNCH WITH 7! CONGRATS ON THE LITTLE CUTIES. WISH ME LUCK, WE ARE ONLY ON DAY 4 HERE AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOUR VIDEO SHOWED!!
Day 22 and we now have 18 beautiful chicks and 7 more hatching now. What fun last night was! Had chicks hatching 2, 3, 4 at a time! As they hatched, the humidity shot up as high as 85% at some times. We were able to quickly open it up and pull the chicks out to the brooder and reduce the humidity at the same time. I highly recommend taping/wrapping plastic around the sides and front as was suggested in another post to help keep the humidity in. I never let it drop lower than 68% and so far so good. I should shut my mouth (or stop my fingers LOL) but every chick has been healthy and problem-free so far.
I'm amazed at the instincts these little things have. When the newly hatched ones are placed in the brooder, they cry and the older chicks will come over and lay next to them to keep them warm. This has been a truly awesome experience for me.
Here's a pic of the 18 so far. All have the same dad - our BR roo but various moms. So far only have three yellow ones. The rest look like BR's except for two that might be more EE. Very exciting. It's a good thing they are all sold and being picked up tomorrow. My BF wanted to run home and start building another coop because he doesn't want to let them go!
And as if that's not bad enough, I've got 43 button quail eggs in another bator due to hatch today! I'm a busy busy girl but loving every minute of it!!
Edited to say: good luck and happy hatching to everyone! I hope that my first-time experiences will help you!!
