Day 23, egg totally dark when candling?

The air cell is gone. The whole egg is dark inside. Did this chick suffocate? How do I know if it’s dead? Or do I do a safety hole?

You could crack the egg open just a little and pock the chick to see if it moves.

I’m concerned it used up its air cell and just didn’t pip. It was moving two days ago.

The egg is totally opaque when candling. The air cell is just gone. I don’t get it!! I don’t want to poke it in case it’s alive.......which seems unlikely.

Look up how to make a safety hole.

You can use the end of a push pin/thumb tack, the tip of a corn holder, the tip of a meat fork, unbend a paperclip, and use one end.

I was googling like crazy and can’t find anything about an opaque egg. Day 18 there was a great air cell.

When I think my egg are bad I go outside a crack it with a rock. Probably NOT the best thing to do. you might be able to use a yarn needle to crack open to egg.
