Hello!

I am currently on day 23 of my first hatch.
This was me and my boyfriends first attempt at hatching so we tried 2 eggs. One didnt make it and the other I am worried about. There is a good air cell and I can see darker veins but no movement. Are veins a bad sign this late? Any responses are appreciated. Thanks!!

I would give them a few more days. Are they big chicken eggs or Bantam? If big ones it takes a little longer.
It's an average sized egg I would say... It came from one of our Browns. I'm not sure if breed matters, but our rooster is a Brahma. Thanks for the reply!

I'm thinking it may have stopped developing if you're seeing veins. Chicken eggs normally hatch 21+ days, at 21days I would think you wouldn't see veins but a dark mass (which is the chick). Could you take a picture as you candle the egg so we can see what you're meaning "dark veins"?

What kind of incubator are you using? What temp is it set at? Humidity reading? What day did you put in the incubator ... Day 1 starts 24hrs after you put the eggs in.

Thanks for the reply. We put the egg in the incubator on March 15th, so the day we should be counting from would be the 16th? Our incubator is subpar I would say... We're both new and really underestimated the quality. We have a new incubator on the way. The egg has been set at 37.5 C with water in the incubator, but not hygrometer. I attached pictures but it was hard to get a half decent one. I don't know if they're good enough!

I'm thinking it'll be fine.... And I'm just worrying too much! The only concerning thing at this point would be the amount of days it's taking. We did, however, have some movement last night, but nothing since. I'd assume that's a good sign!
