This hen has been GLUED to these eggs since I put them under her Sunday evening, May 15 in the evening. That means that a full 21 days would be Sunday evening, June 5. Today is June 7, no pipping, peeping, or chicks, and it's mid-afternoon. Soon they will be a full 48 hours "overdue".
Should I be worried? When should I give up and try to find some chicks to throw under her to brood? She has not been off the nest for more than 5-10 minutes at any time, so I would not expect them to be LATE at all!!!
Is it possible that even though she has been sitting on them very dutifully during this time that they could be late?
I don't want to give up on them if there is a chance, but is there a possibility that the eggs got too hot? Could they have died from excessive heat, and be non-viable?
