Day 25 ... UPDATE: Introducing the chick that survived (Photos)

Day 23 & nothing. Thinking the worst, another quick candling. Three are still very alive but ...

(1) WHY can I still see veins & movement at this stage in 3 of the eggs? Seems odd?
(2) The 4th egg ... I can see mild veins but no movement. That egg is filled up. I can not tell if life is there or not but why is that one different then the other 3?
(3) The egg where I can not see much ... why are the pores on the outside of the egg getting bigger & darker like pen marks? (No bad smells)

im kinda new to incubating but everyone i had like that turned out to be rotton and have no chick in there. it will be horrible if it explodes in your bator. i try and get those out soon as possible. so you dont have any stink bombs lol

It's been 12-13 hours since the chick has cracked the top of the egg & today is day 25. Should I help in any way? I picked the egg up & he is scrambling around in there with chirping. I think he may be my only survivor. Please ... what would YOU do & if anything ... How?

Another egg ... all veins are now gone, it looks like the chick has rolled up into a ball & I see no movement. There's the huge air sack & where the veins were once attached to the egg, it's now clear. I think I lost him ???

I don't know a whole lot about hatching eggs----although I have done it in the past. I was so "green", I had my eggs in a 10-gal. aquarium, with a 75 watt bulb in a reflector lamp on one end of the screened top, and a towel covering the other end! It HAD to be a miracle that anything even lived long enough to hatch. If I were you, I still wouldn't do anything to "help" at this point. My chicks were hatching----had pipped----and I thought they were stuck, and tried to "help" get the shell off them, and inadvertantly killed them---I think 2 or 3. I didn't realise that it was what I was doing that was killing them until I got a book and read about hatching chicks. I felt so awful---especially since these were eggs from my own silkies. But, the ones I left alone hatched just fine! Maybe someone else out there has different advice, like I sadi, I don't know a lot about this subject. Good luck, though----I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I would suggest continuing to wait. It sounds like maybe you had some low temps, so your babies are just taking their time. Give it a day or two more? Congrats on the hatch you have had, though!!!

I don't know what is normal so forgive me if I'm crowding the board with my questions but is it normal for the chick to pop out a hole in the top of the egg to where I can see his beak perfectly & then just sit there, chirping from time to time? I hear tapping so he's working it. He will open his mouth as if he wants to take a larger bite out of the opening section but then goes back to resting. This is normal, yes?

he will do what needs o be done if y=he cant do it by himself he probily would not make it anyways (i know its sad but when it comes to baby birds and eggs you must lock your heart away or you will get really sad)
