Day 26, does anyone leave their drake with hen?

Congrats to mama papa and to granma.

If at all possible let mama take care of them just watch to make sure she is. What part of the country are you in? you want to make sure they have plenty of warn dry bedding to snuggle down into and keep deep bowls of water out of ducklings way so they don't climb in and get soaked and possibly drown.

We are in Australia, so no worries about being warm at the moment! :)
Mum and Dad are doing great as first time parents. So I have left them to it! We did some duckling proofing in the run yesterday, so hopefully everyone will be just fine!
The other two eggs hatched over night, so as of this morning, we have four baby pure bred Pekins :D
I have to be away all day at work today, so we will see if everyone makes it when I get home!

:weeHow exciting! It’s like waking up to Christmas presents!
 
Well, what a drama filled evening!
We had a torrential downpour as I was driving home, and I got there just in time to relocate a floating duckling house! :O
Mum was very stressed as we carried her palace to safer ground (outside my back door) but she protected her babies like a pro!
She has settled Now, and my husband and I just got to witness her teaching the bubbas to eat and drink! I’ve heard how it goes, but it’s amazing to see it first hand! They were mimicking her every move! Squeee
We have four very healthy looking Pekin ducklings! I am shocked and awed, after reading the stories on here about Pekins being terrible at hatching and raising their own babies!
Granma is chuffed! :D
