Hi, so I currently have my white crested duck eggs on lock down. Only on of them that I am aware of has internally pipped. (I learned that yesterday around 1pm. Its now 10:30am the next day) I woke up today and can hear chirping inside that egg. Is it okay that it is chirping, but hasn't externally pipped?

Awesome! I have mixed bred ducks in my incubator right now. They have externally pipped but no hatch yet! Please post pictures once your duckies hatch! :)

Totally. I'm so excited.

My Muscovy's ducklings hatched today! They are adorable! I had to move them to the incubator yesterday (before they hatched) because I noticed fire ants in the nest. I gave my duck a chick (a loner, he was 1 of 2 that hatched and his brother died on Saturday.) and she adopted him. I just gave her all 7 ducklings, but I may have to take them out and add them under her tonight when it's dark. She's not being mean to them, just not paying them much attention. Anyway, here a couple pics to hold you guys over until your babies hatch!

funkysim: Welcome to BYC! Keep us posted on your babies!

I don't know if it's common among duck eggs, (this is my first duck hatch) but I had to help mine. The shell was too hard for them to crack through. Not trying to worry you, just keep an eye out for struggling duckies.

Cute scovies!!!

Keep in mind ducks can take well over 24-36 hours to fully hatch.

It's a tough wait!! And yup they will peeeeep away once they pip internally (not always but it's normal if they do)

There are few things as adorable as new baby ducks!!

I'm getting kind of worried. Yesterday at noon I discovered that an egg had internally pipped. Now it is the following day at 9pm. Still no external pip. I can hear it chirping and tapping the shell but no cracks. Should I be worried Its been about 34 hours. Do I need to help it? I'm sorta panicking.

Hm, maybe I shoulda waited. I have never hatched ducklings before and wasn't planning on hatching these guys, so I didn't research. They all hatched out well. though so I guess it's okay. (all but one, who was deformed.)
How log after hatching should they walk? The oldest has only been hatched for about 7 hours and he's starting to walk a little, but not fully up on his feet. The others won't even attempt walking.
