Half egg is black other half a s clear is it shrink wrapped? Its day28. Help ugh!!!
 
to me that sounds about right, you're just candling right? it has not pipped out side?? but if you're waiting for hatch you shouldn't be moving them and or candling them, they need to sit still to orientate for hatch.
 
OK thanks first time hatching any thing. And believe it or not had to hadve emergcy brain surgery last Thursday so my mind is half out of it

Just curious, if you do not move them or candle the last 3 days, how do you know if they are making progress. This year I have had to assist over 50% of mine to get them out of the egg, they were not shrink wrapped or anything and they had made the internal pip and then just sat there, I ended up doing a small air hole/ext. pip so they could breathe and then with many I also ended up peeling off shell bit by bit until I could get them safely out. Most have ended up being fine healthy chicks, but without my intervention I don't think they would have ever hatched, just sat there getting weaker until they died in the shell. I candle and check them a lot during lockdown, and just make sure they are put back in the hatcher in the same position they were in when removed.
 
this is our first year hatching anything ever, so we didn't touch them after the 26th day... guess I'm lucky the two we had hatched... I was thinking maybe you candled them by just sticking a little flashlight on the egg while it was laying there... I did help the one, it externally pipped and the next day no real progress so I picked away about a pencil eraser sized hole, after that it zipped. I mean we did check on it, it was cherping the whole time and sounded good, but after 24 hours... I just felt the need to help. Both were very healthy :)
on day 28 tho we pay close attention and if I can hear one that internally pipped but then it didn't externally pip, I'd def help it.

Pretty good came out of know where a lot of test still to go. And I'm worried about pea eggs lol.
