Day 33 hatch--didn't make it **pics of my keets**

Do you think popping the sac and releasing the waste will cut the vein too? Maybe a vet can give you some advice over the phone or something. I hope he makes it...

My little fighter lost its battle this morning. I tied off the sack and removed it with string, but the poor thing was just so week. I just candled the other egg again and there is still a lot of activity. It still hasn't pipped and it is now day 33. I have some chicks pipping and thought about putting it in with them--hoping the peeping might stimulate a hatch.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. I have never had that happen.

Yes I would definitely recommend putting the other egg in with the hatching chicks. The noise of other chicks peeping does seem to help the ones still pipping hatch out. I don't know why, but it always seems to help.

I'm sorry for your loss and I hope the other guy hatches out okay. We're getting close to our white guinea hen hatching her babies and I sure hope she can do a better job then me! We've only ever hatched out 7 of her keets before (Pure white keets) and they've all died sometime or other. Most of her keets die after a couple days of seemingly being healthy, one we had live to 3 weeks just to lose it on the 4th. The oldest one has lived to is 10 weeks. I think it's our white stock because the rest of our guineas hatch keets wonderfully and they almost always live.

But if you could manage, could we see some pics of the rest of your keets? Pretty please

Okay, finally got some pics for you Debbie.

They wouldn't stay still but I finally got most of them crowded into one corner.

Well, my last guinea hatched during the night on day 33. Unfortunately it did not make it. It was not quite fully out of its shell, but I could see the large dark sack similar to the first. My other keets are actually starting to get small feathers--it was a great hatch regardless.

aw they are adorable! I have two white guineas (16 weeks old or so) but they were already 2 weeks old when i got them.

Do you think that sac was a possible twin...maybe a double yoked egg? Just wondering?

I think the sack was just the yolk sack not absorbed. It happens, that is why the chicks don't usually pip and hatch because normally they wait until the yolk is all absorbed.
