Hello,

I have a one year old black Australorp hen that I found on the floor of my coop on Sunday Afternoon. With an egg a few feet away from her on the coop floor. I grabbed her and put her down in the run and found she could take about three steps and then would fall over to the left and just sit there.
She has progressed to not being able to walk at all and her legs quiver. One leg feels slightly cooler to the touch than the other. She just sits up on her hocks. She can still move her feet, one more than the other but cannot stand.
She seems completely normal otherwise.
Bright red comb and waddles, normal poop, eating, drinking, even trying to catch bugs in the air. Only thing off is she hasn’t laid and egg. I don’t feel any egg in her.
She feels thin.
I do have a rooster that has made her and a few others her favorite so I thought maybe he hurt her while mating.
No lice or mites or scaly leg mites.
Been giving her electrolytes and food and poultry cell 3ml once in the morning. Thinking maybe it’s a vitamin deficiency.
All my chickens are on a high quality layer feed by Poulin Grain.
Most of the time I find her flopped over to the left with her legs to the side that are quivering.
The vet is too busy and won’t see her.

I'm sorry to hear about your hen.

Hard to know what's causing her symptoms.
I'd try giving her Extra Calcium and vitamin therapy. 1 Calcium Citrate with D3, 400 IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg to help with the uptake of E.

Calcium can help if there's an issue with an egg or pushing out material like Salpingitis, the E and B-Complex can help support nerve function and may help with the trembling.

Marek's disease also comes to mind, but sadly, there's no real treatment for that. Vitamin therapy is often used to give support (E, B-Complex) and see if the bird improves.

Has she lost weight drastically?

Can you give an update on how this has turned out?
