Hey folks! Wow! I loved reading all the responses! To answer a few questions....
1. I am in Old Fort in WNC, in between Marion and Black Mtn.
2. Yes, all that stuff did come out of that shed! I am here to tell you it was packed to the hilt! That's why it took me 3 days to clean it out!
3. As far as the windows and doors, I really didn't think they were worth all that much. Believe it or not, I tried to give them away on Freecycle....NO TAKERS. What do you want to bet that I try to sell them and they go? LOL! Gonna post pics here in a minute of the windows and doors. Let me know what y'all think. Oh, and the give away wood? Same story. Took two posts on Freecycle and one on Craigslist. Finally had one guy come get the load out of the truck. He was supposed to come back but didn't. I fiinally said the heck with it. If I can find somewhere to stack it and protect it, I am going to keep it and use my newly learned carpentry skills to build some small portable coops and dog houses. The carpenter is letting me help and teaching me a little as we go.
4. I actually did mention the idea of chickens last year but really didn't have the time to follow through. I just started up again in earnest a couple of months ago. I guess that counts as a re-start, so I should have waited a few more months? LOL
This is a really neat group. I am thankful to have so many new friends!
Now, today was Day 5. The main part of the coop is done. Since the shed was so long, we left an overhang so I can work and not get wet if its raining. All the materials except most of the wire and some hardware came off of the property. I love the idea of recycling so much of this stuff. The carpenter estimates another two days of work. He will be here tomorrow and then come back Monday (Just to mesh our schedules).
I promise pictures of the coop, but I am not going to post any of it until it's finished. Yes, I am taking them as we go, but I want the shock value of the before and after photos! LOL...The agreement is he is going to finish the coop and run. I am going to paint an decorate it. I have everything planned out and can't wait to get started! I may not be handy with a saw, but by-golly, I sure can use a paintbrush!
Ok, now for the pictures of the windows and doors. I really didn't think the windows were worth much. They are the slide type, without frames. The paint and caulking is chipped, but the wood and glass are in good shape. A couple of the doors are really nice....stripped and refinished or painted and they would look new. If the windows are marketable, where would be a place to start? Should I sell them as is, or try to refinish them? Any advice would be great!
