. Not too sure, I mean I think it would make it a tad more difficult as obviously it is loose, but i'm sure they could still hatch.

Thats bad right?

This is just my experience... I have hatched with detached air cells before, but for me, a detached air cell was just a whole air cell that floated freely around the egg when the egg was moved. A ruptured air cell would sometimes take on a jelly-like appearance and wiggle as the egg was moved, but stay put at the large end of the egg.

I've had eggs whose air cells were ruptured to the point of looking like many bubbles, but in those instances the eggs had suffered too much trauma to be viable (usually wild eggs rescued from destroyed nests, so trauma was inevitable). With a detached air cell, I had great success in hatching in egg cartons and manually "spinning" the egg for turns, just to keep the yolk from getting stuck, but for the most part keeping the egg still, air cell at the top. Eventually the air cell would either re-attach, or at least be positioned properly for the chick to hatch.

If an air cell is just a bunch of bubbles I would think it is too long gone, but you won't know unless you try.

i heard somewhere that a little bubble floating around usually meens it is fertal and in my experience it has been true, i have hatched about 100 in the last 5 months. if its alot of bubbles neer the air sac or what looks like moving fluid it is not good

Adrian is right. If you have lots of air bubbles, the egg is most likely scrambled, and won't develop. If it's one moving bubble you have a detached air sac. You probably want to handle the egg as little as possible to allow the air cell to reattach.

I know it's tempting to candle everyday, and I'm certainly guilty of that myself, but I have noticed that the less I handle the eggs, the better my hatch rate, especially in the first 10 days or so. They're fragile early on. As for seeing veins, I've seen veins as early as day 3, but I've also had eggs I thought weren't developing, that showed no visible signs until day 10. For that reason, I try to save myself some stress, and resist candling until day 10. That way, it's obvious which eggs are viable.

I will have to check that egg again. I feel like I checked that one last night and I didnt see the bubbles, but I could be wrong. I will check them today to see and I will probably leave that one under her as an experiment to see if it does hatch. It was just weird looking!

That's good! So how many eggs are for sure developping?

wut do i do with one chick? i know they need company.
but i'm not sure if the others have things. yesterday night i thought i say vains in the others, but now i'm not sure.

I am going to get a better flashlight today @ Kmart. Hopefully I can get a better look in the inside of the others. I numbered them 1-12 and so far only #4 is developing.

So you're on day 7? Don't give up hope for the others. Sometimes it takes longer than that to see the veins, especially if the light you're candling with isn't very strong, or your eggs have dark or thick shells.

AHHH!!

I just decided to recheck again at 3:30pm. I mean really take a few minutes at the eggs individuals... Rotated some around and majority are developing! Almost all of them except (2) have a small black spot with veins!!

... I will check again later tonight to jot down which #'s have something and which #'s don't have anything. I know i have seen 2 without black spots. I'm not THAT upset about 2 out of 12 because the farmer said it's rare for all 12 to hatch if i do have some viable eggs. Which I Do!!!

6:00pm
Just recandled to be able to see how many eggs are in deed viable.
I have 8 viable and 4 iffy's. They are "iffy's because I can see veins in a few of the iffy's but no dark spot (yet).
I took pictures as well. The pictures are a bit blurry which is why i circled the darker spot with white circle. I know it might not look anything to you, but to me it was a darker spot. lol
