Well like the title says it is day 5 and I went to check the bator at around noon and it was sitting around 98.4. I am unsure how long it was there but last night around midnight it was 99.6. so tops 12 hours. What is this going to do if anything? It seems that since I started to order eggs my incubator has decided to change its habits. Before it was so simple to keep the temp and humidity where they were supposed to be but now it seems that it is much harder adn I am having to adjust it alot more. I guess I am just going to have to check it as often as possible. Funny that with eggs from my own chickens I dont have any low temps or humidity problems but with eggs that I bought now I do. Probably a likely story. ANyways What will a drop in temp do to my eggs?

A small temp. drop ( a couple degrees ), or even a big temp. drop - as long as it doesn't stay low for to long ~
will only slow the development down, and cause late hatches.
A big temp. drop could kill your eggs if the temp stays low for a long time.

If you have a fan, Your totally fine.
If you do not, I'd turn the heat up a bit

Either way your eggs are fine

If you have a fan keep the temps between ~ 97 & 99 F
If you hve a still air 'bator, keep temps between ~ 100 & 102 F

I have a forced air HB that I actually run at lower temperatures 98.5-99.8. That's a safe range, because I cannot be there every time to adjust the wafer. Low drops are much better then high spikes. Just my method. How this affects hatching~~ I get hatches on day 21-23, even early hatches around day 20.

What will it do? In a word: nothing.

I just bought a new incubator (cabinet style) on April 18. All the bells and whistles. Had 29 eggs in it and realized I had forgotten to check it between the day of May 3-4. Last check was around 10pm on 03/03. About 7pm of 03/04 I glanced at it and the temp was at 71 F. That's right, 71 F. I have no idea how many hours it took for this fully insulated cabinet style incubator to be broken for the temp to drop that low. Took all the eggs out and was afraid to candle them. Moved them to my old LG and figured what would happen would happen. Candled just now to check for survivors and I have 28 definite survivors and 1 unknown because it's a quail egg. Now who knows what will happen at lockdown, but I am still impressed at the fact that 2 days later I have survivors at ALL! A temp drop as low as you had is nothing, in the scheme of things. A temp spike, on the other hand, is much deadlier.

I didnt think it was going to be a big problem but I thought I would ask. I have a Cabinet incubator with a fan and all so I am glad that all should be well. Thanks all. I have 200 plus eggs in there adn it would really suck to lose them all.
