Hi All,

I’ve had my two Silkie hens since early May and one of them went broody 10 days ago. As we want some more chickens and don’t have a cockerel at present, we decided to get some hatching eggs for her to sit on. We have 5 hybrids.

It’s day 7 and we’ve candled the eggs. Truthfully, I’m not sure what we should be looking for and if any of these may need to be removed from her.

Can anyone advise as to whether these are looking hopeful or not?

Many thanks.

Quick update. I cleaned out the nesting box whilst my broody hen was having her food etc. and quickly candled whilst I had the eggs out ...

I think this may be good too although not as developed as the first two.

I think a definite no. This egg was kicked out of the nest for two mornings in a row at the start of incubation.

I’m not sure about this one. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can’t believe the difference in 24 hours!
