Day old chick died suddenly!

These chicks don't happen to be located in your kitchen? I only ask because if you happen to use non stick cookware or use oven cleaner/self clean the oven, it can be toxic to birds and cause sudden death.

They are, but I’ve always kept my baby chicks in the kitchen, for the first couple weeks. the only thing I can think of, is that I used my oven for the first time in a long time the other day. My one chick has been having breathing issues for more than 3 days now, and I put him outside during the day and inside at night. If that was the reason, is the damage done reversible?
