Day Old Chicks HELP

Highly unlikely that it is AI - most likely shipping stress. Have you tried electrolytes or vitamin supplementation?
Ok I knew AI is unlikely it’s just an always lingering fear. I have given them grow gel, they didn’t send them with quick chick so sugar water, but they won’t really eat or drink a lot? I’ve never been this confused with a batch of chicks.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

When you first took them out of the box, did you put each chick's beak to the water source? Did you offer the electrolyte solution from the very start? Then show them the food and get the under the heat source? Shipping stress can kill quickly if not addressed immediately.

Yep, I introduced them to everything right off the bat. And I’ve reminded them a few times now as well. Thank you all for the help. I will try to treat the rest as if it’s shipping stress and just try to keep on top of fluids and food. I just really wanted to make sure it wasn’t something that needed antibiotics or treatment. Thank you all again.

So sorry about the loss of chicks. I would call the hatchery right away. I agree this is probably shipping stress or possibly a weak hatch. Keep dipping beaks in water with electrolytes and food for a few days, and watch their vents for pasty butt and treat.
Thank you. I will definitely contact them and keep up on all the necessities. Thank you all again I was just at a loss earlier.

Welcome to BYC. I'm so sorry.
Are you using a light as a heat source?
I've heard of Teflon poisoning from using the wrong type bulbs and the symptoms are very similar.
Huh, I’ve never heard of that I will definitely check but the bulb and lamp are newer from tractor supply. I will definitely check it out though. Thanks.

Its not likely if the bulbs are from tractor supply. They would be meant for poultry so that wouldn't be the problem. Have you checked the temperature in the brooder?
