Day old chicks will be here tomorrow! Couple questions....

I'm glad yours arrived healthy!! I am still holding my breath that our three make it OK. My tracking says tomorrow. When I called the PostOffice yesterday, they said that live animals come early in the morning only. We could not find the Poly-ViSol without Iron. Everyone had it WITH Iron, but no one had it without. I do have the Nutri-Drench on hand now.

Did I understand correctly that I should give the babies one drop by mouth daily & more often if there is a weak one???

I don't know about daily, someone else will have to chime in, but even though mine came in healthy and chipper I still gave them each 1 drop of nutri-drench in each of their mouths. I'l be awaiting the answer if it's needed daily or just a 1 time thing.

I am not a fan of putting drops directly in a chick's mouth, especially if they are weak. It's very easy for a weak animal to aspirate the liquid. I will put it to the side of the beak and it will wick into their mouth. Blooie used a Q-tip dipped in PND. But with that method, be very sure they don't pull any fibers off the Q-tip!

If they are drinking well, and almost certainly, that is the first thing they will want to do, just be sure you put PND and some sugar (I believe it's 1 TBSP sugar /qt) in their water. Double check me on the sugar amount.

Our babies arrived! Three loudly chirping baby birds inside a little box. I called the Post Office at 0600 and was told the truck had not arrived yet. Five minutes later they called for me to come pick them up! I was so worried that they would make it! So far, so good. They are all three eating and drinking & at least Buffy is pooping too! I took several pictures, but none turned out very good. @45pro @nminusyplusm

@45pro So glad that all three or four of us on this thread received their babies happy and healthy (so far - knocks on wood)!! MPC did a good job shipping healthy babies! I was really surprised that there was only one heat pack in the box with the babies! Ours barely had any warmth to it at all by the time they arrived - but obviously they knew what they were doing.

Here are my Cream Legbar's. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to tell them apart, but thats not a problem - for now.
