Day old chicks will be here tomorrow! Couple questions....

Oh - you better be ready then. I would bet yours arrive first thing in the morning! I am in New Mexico, so our poor babies may be in their box until Wed. morning. The postmaster was not sure either, but you are very close.

Really funny - I also finalized my order on Saturday night. My email with the tracking number also came at 2pm today. MY post office said they arrive at 0545 and will call if the birds have arrived. I can then come to the Post Office and pick them up before they open to the public. But again, every post office does things their own way. I would definitely call them and ask. I wanted some colors in the egg basket, so I was looking for blue and white egg layers. At one point, I had two of the Australians (I think) in my cart - but then they were all gone too! The Cream Legbar was the first to make it to my shopping cart, and the only one that was never removed.

I doubt I can get get ahold of them now being as late as it is. I wonder how early they will answer their phones as I would rather pick them up asap versus waiting on a call or possibly having a driver drive around with them all morning in their vehicle before they deliver

I called my local PO who said nope not coming today sorry, looks like they didn't even ship yet. 2 hours later I got a call from a post office 20 miles away that they had them. I'm glad I was able to get them right away but you never know where they'll land first so watch the phone.

Call your post office first thing in the morning; I always call a few days before shipping, to make sure they know to call me immediately when they arrive! Last year there was a foulup, they were sent to another post office fifteen miles away1 I was called at 6 am, and drove up there right away. Otherwise, the chicks would have been in transit a lot longer, a bad thing. Mary

Hello! Just read this thread and I was thinking of ordering some Polish day old chicks from MyPetChicken this spring, but got my first chickens from a local mill which doesn't ship because IT'S 6 MINUTES AWAY!
What happens when you order from them? How do you know which post office it went to and how does the Post Office know to call you if you didn't contact them?
