‘ Try having your whole family needlessly killed. Try being chased away wherever you go, even when you are outside of pack territory. Try watching an injured mother being taken away by pack wolves, and her pups never being able to see her again. We aren’t able to leave our dens without fearing for our lives, we aren’t able to hunt without being attacked. Now both of you, leave me alone. I don’t ever want to see another stupid pack wolf again.’ Lavender said, tears wetting the fur on her cheeks.

Yuki took a step back. "Wait...a a loner...mother? Our pack? Did that happen recently?" She asked, eyes wide.

‘ Yes. Her name was Zelda, and I don’t even know if she is still alive. All her pups, they were left without a mother. They were left there, starving to death in their den. And they died, having no mother to take care of them.’ Lavender said, making her lies sound as believable as her truths. She didn’t want pack wolves looking for the pups, and if they thought the pups were dead it would be fine.

Tears filled Yuki's eyes. "I had no idea the loner was a mother." She gasped, barely able to breathe. "That's terrible." She saw a fluffy, small head poke out of the opening of the den. A pup. "I'm so sorry that they all died." But Yuki knew the truth. "I'm going to leave the pack. I can't be in a group of murderers. They wouldn't care, anyway. In their eyes, I'm nothing but something to treat like garbage."

Lavender glanced back over at the den, and noticed a pup sticking their head out. ‘ That is, my pup. Not Zelda’s. All of Zelda’s pups died. How would a pup survive without a mother? And it’s ridiculous to think a pack wolf would be trying to find Zelda’s pups that I don’t have, that would be silly.’ Lavender said, frantically trying to hide the truth.

"Uh-huh. I'm sure." Yuki said, raising an eyebrow. "Well, take this for your own pup. I'm not sure if your pup is old enough to eat meat, but if not, you can eat this." She dropped her two rabbits at the loners feet

‘ Thank you.’ Lavender said, suspicious. ‘ You can keep it, we have plenty of meat.’

"Nah, take it. I don't need it." Yuki lied, ignoring her ribs that were practically protruding from her skin and the protests of her stomach. "I'm sure that taking care of a bunch of pups is hard."
(Wow. Tomorrow? Good night. :) )
