So on Friday June 6th I stopped by Family Farm and Home to see when they would get their next batch of hatchling. They told me they got some that day.
I went home and got our "brooder box" ready for the impending babies!

Saturday morning my 10 yo son and I walked in the Pride Fest Parade and enjoyed Pride Fest with my wife.

Then my wife and I went to the farm store to get some little babies!😊

Babies in a brooder box!

We have since learned that the chicks are having a hard time with the horizontal nipple waterer and gave them a bowl of water. I will be picking up a different waterer for them tomorrow.

So far they seem to be very happy still. They definitely like attention which is something we like cuz we want our chickens to be our friends as much as possible as well.

Thanks for taking a look! I'll be updating alot as I go!

After a week or two they have the strength to work the horizontal.
Thank you for that reassurance! That definitely seems like the case. Looks like they can't quite press it hard enough.

We have a little glass trough in there now for them but I don't like how they can walk in it so after work tomorrow I'll stop and get them a little chick waterer.

So I'd say our chicks are 4 days old today...

We are definitely Jurassic Park/World nerds as well so we have decided on that as a theme for our chickens and our coop/run.

My wife did a cute little photo session tonight

And "Echo" a Black Austraplorp

They all are very curious and lovey already. Trying to jump/fly out of the brooder box and climbing all over us. Keep cuddling together in my wife's arms or lap like she's mama bird.

We are so exited to watch them grow and develop!!

Thanks for looking!

What a fun family day! ❤️

I am still resisting baby chicks (flock size restrictions in our city), but you’re not making this easy. 😂

Well I had a friend call my township and found out that we are allowed 4 poultry per 1/2 acre of land with a 12 bird maximum. We have just under 1.5 acres so I guess we are allowed 8 birds...😊😈

So we tried hard to get some 1 week old update pics of cute little things, but man they never stop moving!! It's so cool to watch them develop so fast. They definitely all have there own personalities that's for sure!

They definitely all still love all the attention and affection. When they hear us they all start chirping like crazy like "Pick me up", or "Let me out"! As soon as we take the lid off the brooder box the 2 Olive Eggers try to fly out.

They love to walk around and peck at the floor. (We use a piece of the vinyl flooring cut off for them to walk around on) They love to crawl around on my wife's shoulders or perch on her arms or legs.

She seems to be a little plumper and developing a little slower. Worries my wife some that she could accidentally be a roo...

Can't wait to see what the next week brings with these little things...

Work on their hen house and coop is coming along nicely...

Thanks for looking again!
