DE and baby chicks

Does anyone know if you can use DE on baby chicks that are 4 days old? I have found out that some of my chickens, well probably all have been exposed to mites and I am afraid that the mother of the chicks born on friday could have had the mites as well. I have the chicks in a brooder in the house. Any suggestions or do you think they will not have a problem? I would rather be safe then sorry.

you can put it in the chicken feed
at 2% of the feed
it will not hurt them
also I would do the same for the hens

and with the hens make a dust box

3 lbs of sand or soil and a cup of DE

restock once a week and add to the box
