DE for pools, ok for chickens?

Food Grade DE can be found online at organic suppliers.

NO to the pool stuff.

and if I were you..I'd be sure and let them know that it is toxic to chickens and other critters.

If you can't find the food grade DE - look for STALL DRY - for horses, its pretty much DE mixed with Clay and does the job!

Also Sweet PDZ - I find that impossible to locate, but it also does a good job.
