I've read that good grade DE is good to sprinkle in coops and in the run where the chickens dust. I just bought some Red Lake DE with calcium bentonite. I'm sure my hens are getting more than enough calcium in their diets and I have no intention of adding this to their feed.
I'm getting ready to clean the coop and was planning on putting some DE down as a preventative measure.Although most articles I've read are positive about using DE this way, one I just read warned against it.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have used it and your experiences. I love my girls and one fella and want what's best for them.

Thanks for the help!

That's "food" grade.

I use it as an insect deterrent in my garden and I've heard of others feeding it and putting
it down in the coop/run I don't think it can harm them!
