Yeah, maybe. I have weevils infesting my scratch feed container, so I stirred in one cup of DE over 20 lbs of scratch. The weevils seem to love it.

Six weeks later and I have weevils thriving in almost pure DE which has settled to the bottom of the scratch. Can't find a single dead weevil. I can't even
find a sick one.​

DE scattered in the removable tray in my Eglu Go Coop makes cleaning simple and keeps the coop from getting stinky. At the very least DE is good for that!

i agree, de in the chickencoop helps keeping it clean and aids moisture control. for that it doesn´t need to be food grade. otherwise it´s quite useless.

I use the food grade DE in my sheep stall and coop, good for drying things up and keeping the smell down. Seems to help a lot with the flys during the warm weather because it dries up the poop real quick. Not sure it's good for much else tho there are a lot of claims about all the miraculous things it can do.
