Dead birds - Pic of tracks added Pg 4

Sorry about your flock, I lost 22 chickens and four pregnant nanny goats in one day two years ago. Discovered about 2 weeks later that our own dog who had never seemed interested in the least was the culprit. Came home early and caught him in the act. He's gone, needless to say.

VERY large dog, like a bull mastiff? Funny thing is one my neighbors has one and she hot wires her fence because he digs out. Yesterday she turned it off because of weeds. So instead of getting off her hind end and clearing the weeds, I lost most of my flock. I ever see her she is gonna get an earful.

I have one of those big ugly things lurking around my fence lately too. It's going to get shot

I shot it with the BB gun today and it stood there and looked at me like I was stupid...next time it won't be BB's! Sorry for your chickies and for your bad day

It wasn't 100% horrid. My best friend who is NOT a chicken person hightailed down to the feed store and brough me 3 pullets (RSL) and a mama american game hen with 3 chicks. And a loaf of chocolate peanut butter bread.

So sorry. That must have been a terrible discovery. When we first got chicks our 10lb datshun? mix got in the run and killed 7 out of 12. It was terrible. All my chickens are bigger than her now so she doesn't bother them but I still keep an eye out just in case. I hope you find out what did it.

I am sorry You are dealing with a Bobcat or mountian Lion.If you notice theres no claws in those tracks dogs have claws cats retract there claws also the only reason they lookso Big is Bobcats/ Mountain lions Place there back feet in the same spot as there front feet. your tracks are also in a straight Line. It is what I do Track and trap I am after a very big bobcat right now.Oh and BTW there is a cub in that pic sothe reason for so many loses is there teaching the cubs to hunt. I am only about 1000000 % positive you are dealing with a very large cat. I am Uploading a guideto tracking and trapping them tonight for this forum. Perhaps you can watch it and get an Idea of what to Look for. you can PM me with any questions you have on these animals. Sorry again for your loss.

There are claw marks and Animal Controls STRONGLY believes it is our neighbors bull mastiff. They hot wire their fence because they KNOW he gets out and shut it off yesterday because of the weeds.

Even though its dark and Cold I am gonna walk down to the Pond where I have some traps set up I will posta Pic of the cat tracks for you to compair. you can see claws since you can inspect it closer I do not makeout claws But the pads of a cat. Give me a bit to return I need to see if I caught my cat yet anyhow. This cat I am after is definatly smarter then I and he is even playing games with me. Removing the dead racoon thats bait then returning it without ever setting off a trap.

Wouldn't a cat eat them? Besides that it would have just jumped in. The fence is only 7 feet high. Whoever did this didn't eat them just tore them to pieces and left them.

Typically yes Unless its a cub in training I do agree thats a healthy loss for a cat. If you see claws in those tracks then rule out the cat I don't see any claw marks. here is a Pic of a fresh cat track this was Just a few feet infront of my leg hold which means I missed the cub again. Keep in mind this is the cubs print not the adults.

its good nature when you take a pic of a print to get right on the print for a good clear shot and detail. Notice here only 2 tracks theres actually 4 there. from that distance up that track looks clawless I will try to blow it up some and see if I can make out more detail.

Sorry I can't be of any help, I just read the words chocolate peanut butter loaf," and that's all I can think of. Where do you get those? Any one have a recipe?
