So recently one of my chickens has been being broody laying on of her favorite boxes on the top, thing is 2 of my hens sleep perched on the sides so at night I move her to another box also she’s been with a little crop that feels like it has water , before going to sleep I always take out their feeders so less rodents are attracted but yesterday when moving her she jumped out the boxes and jumped to the sticks to sleep but in the morning she was just standing on top of her boxing so I put her down to eat but nope, she just jumped back and standed on top of her box and no she hasn’t layed for the period she was being broody. So I took her out tried giving her Greek yogurt, no, tomatoe her favorite treat, no, wet feed, nope so i had to force give her yogurt with electrolytes, she pooped this poop when I put her outside of the coop and didn’t do much she usually runs more but she didnt. Her symptoms are lethargy, not wanting to eat. No lameness, no sneezing/coughing no nasal discharge. I have Corid, Safeguard, Tylan 50, Prozap, electrolytes, probiotics, and miconazole at hand in case it’s needed. She has bald belly. Her butt looks like that since a few months ago her poop touched her butt feathers so cut some of them. they got dewormed 2 weeks ago since one of my hens had worms and she was the most affected, it has been raining and some of their soil has gotten wet I’m planning on shoveling it out, disinfecting it and placing new one mixed with some prozap. If anyone know what she could have I would be most happy so I can treat to what she needs. We live in a rural are so having hens/livestock is extremely rare and there are no vets who specialize in avians.

When i dewormed the sick hen she was in a separate coop with all her friends and the other coop where this chicken is next to it, but since they made contact the day she started feeling bad I dewormed everyone.

I have no experience treating Cocci with Corid just so you know, but my flock has cocci illness outbreaks sometimes. I hope you have treated it before because it looks like that is cocci.

She is already nutrient deficient because of the watery droppings and shedding the intestinal walls. All the good gut flora are losing the fight with the bad cocci parasites. I would treat with the corid medicine now, but hold off on more vitamins until the medicine gets to work in her system. I said I never treated before, but you better start her on Corrid. I think if you give Vitamins with Corrid you are just feeding the bad bacteria a way to counter the medication.

The good news is that hopefully you caught it early and can stop the cocci. Maybe give a good size dose and let her rest the night, followed by food in the morning. I would hand feed prebiotics to with the Corid, just not a pure vitamin supplement to keep from feeding the bacteria you are trying to kill. Something like oatmeal mixed with yogurt and some of her feed. She should recover this in two days and you need to try to get food in her to make her droppings more normal and not watery.

Grown hens are very easy to hand feed balls of food down the back ofnher throat. Just need to make the feed the right consistency to form a soft mushy ball.

She doesn’t want to eat, haven’t tried oatmeal yet though, tried egg,wet feed, bread, tomatoe, regular feed, doesn’t want it. Can corid just be gaven orally, the first time they had cocci was when they were 6 weeks old right now there almost 10 months I gave them 10ml per gallon

this definitely looks to be coccidia! if shes lethargic and not eating I'd try to get her a vet prescribed medication, something like baycox, just so she gets the help she needs quickly. Coxoids bought without a vet prescription usually go in the birds water for a week, dont always work quickly enough at this stage. Good luck!

Yeah when they first had corid they slept in the cage inside at night while staying outside during the day and in the morning we would wake up and see and there was poop mixed with blood at first we thought it was worms but we looked more into it and people told me it was cocci and they told it was best to treat for. Corid

I added to the post that Grown hens are very easy feed balls of food down the back of her throat. Just need to make the feed the right consistency to form a soft mushy ball. I mix banana with her feed, but oatmeal is another prebiotic. That moves quickly through her system. If you can add the medicine to that and shive the balls into the back of her throat she will swallow it. Help her rinse it down with water inbetween.

I never treated with Corid but I assume you have water soluable and that you know the dosage.
