Dead chicken with a wet head? Three theories...

My husband says snake attack. I've now lost two chicks - one each of the last two nights - each with wet head and neck.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to chime in. Just found a dead chicken-beautiful lavender Orpington- maybe 3 months old- wet head/neck- no other sign of injury. We saw a snake under the coop yesterday, so I’m assuming that’s what it was.

So sorry for your loss.
Sounds like the work of the snake. If the chick was found dead in your coop, I would try to figure out how he got in and snake proof your coop. If he doesn't come back for your other chicks, he will return in a few months when the girls start laying and go for the eggs.
