Raccoons seem like they might not be around but boy, they are nearly everywhere in the US. they are so well adapted to living off our garbage, or small livestock like our chickens. They are good at hiding from us.

You were right! I saw the racoon last night. So crazy to me that we have one in the neighborhood! I locked the chickens in my garage last night! My coop isn’t secure so I am trying to figure out how to resolve that today!

You may not see them but they are everywhere.

If you want you can post pictures of your setup and we can give you advice on how to secure your coop.

Is there a water feature near your neighborhood? I would imagine a nice neighborhood would provide water, cover and forage for a wild animal in AZ, so I guess a raccoon makes sense. I saw coatimundi in the area near Tucson when I visited in March. I wonder if they prey on chickens too?
