Dead duck in pond

I've just found my second runner duck dead in the pond. The other was about three months ago. They all seem very happy and healthy. Could it be the Drake?

I would be suspicious that the drake is breeding them and drowning them.

What size pond? Any chance of snappers? What breed is the drake?

It's just a little man-made pond. He's a runner.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have 2 Runner drakes and although sex is their lifes work I just can't imagine 1 killing a female. Not saying it can't be done. Just seems just one drake when it's usually more than one ganging up on a female that causes drowning.
There wasn't any signs of injury on her?

I asked my husband if her neck was broken, but she was pretty stiff. No outward signs of injury
