So today my mom found my male Pekin duck dead , nothing visibly wrong with it until she flipped him over and he seemed to have a prolapsed penis. It was a little bloody at the base where it comes out but besides that nothing wrong. What do you guys think could have caused this ? I don’t understand how that could kill him ? I had just feed and cleaned there pen this morning and by 3 in the after noon he was dead. He was only 7-8 months old

Sorry for your loss. :hugs. I had a drake with a exposed peins I got rid of him because of it it can get infected and if he is with hens (female ducks) it can get in to them too.

I am very sorry for your loss. :hugs Can you post a picture of his penis and vent? Also check the inside of his mouth for abnormalities. There is a disease called duck plague that can cause this.

Thank you ❤️ & I wish I thought to take a picture because my dad buried him already and I didn’t look in his mouth either because I only had a quick look at him when I got home from work because I happened to catch my dad right before he put him in the hole and I was upset, but that is the only thing I found online also so now I’m nervous that all my ducks are going to die

Thankyou ❤️ But I just want to know why he died and that is the only thing visibly wrong with him

If his penis was an abnormal color, then cause of death could have been from an infection. Where do you live?
I live in south jersey , when I seen him he had been dead for a few hour and his penis was a pale almost white color , he has had a staff infection in his foot before but he was treated for a couple months and had been doing better.

White is the normal color, so :idunno. Call your state vet and ask if duck plague is a problem in your area.
