Dead duck with prolapsed penis

@Rosie1115 What feed are you using for your flock? You might not need to change anything. Management? can you give us an idea of how you keep your ducks? Ducks die and sometimes for unknown reasons but I have a feeling he may have died from the infection and meds he was on. Hopefully not duck plague. What part of the country are you in? I am so sorry for your loss.

About three weeks ago I had two healthy ducks die within three hours...I was all over this forum..bought meds to treat the flock for cocisdia ..not sure how to spell that...we even moved the entire duck pen and dug up the ground and put in new dirt...but by night we realized they got into toxins..is there anything he could’ve gotten into? Ducks are creative..does your car leak oil...anything like that

I feed them purina layena pellets , they are free rang during the day and at night they are put into a shed lined with hay and wood chips and I live in south jersey , I really hope it is not that all of the rest of them seem fine this morning .

They do not usually go near where the cars are but it is possible I know they like to eat and dig up everything so god only knows . They free rang during the day

I am sure you know that Pekins were bred as meat birds grow supper fast to be slaughtered at around 12 weeks old. I don't think anyone thought they would become so popular for back yard duck lovers but they have. So we have to be really careful not to over feed them especially things like bread that will add to their weight but isn't very nutritious for them. Rouens are dual purpose and can probably get over weight also but not like a Pekin. and Probably a Jumbo would need to be watched even closer. Their legs can also suffer from being over weight since ducks legs are not the strongest anyway. Feed probably had nothing to do with it. Many feed their flocks layer. Could have just been something internal that was slow to show up. I had a Muscovy duckling[female] who never would go an forage would rather lay around instead of being with the other ducklings. I thought maybe her heart wasn't strong. She lived to be 4 months old. I didn't do a necropsy so I can only guess what she died of. But saying this because sometimes it is visual they have a problem sometimes not until too late. We all can only speculate on what killed your drake. Hopefully it was just with him though and the others will continue to thrive.
