Dead duck with prolapsed penis

I am sure you know that Pekins were bred as meat birds grow supper fast to be slaughtered at around 12 weeks old. I don't think anyone thought they would become so popular for back yard duck lovers but they have. So we have to be really careful not to over feed them especially things like bread that will add to their weight but isn't very nutritious for them. Rouens are dual purpose and can probably get over weight also but not like a Pekin. and Probably a Jumbo would need to be watched even closer. Their legs can also suffer from being over weight since ducks legs are not the strongest anyway. Feed probably had nothing to do with it. Many feed their flocks layer. Could have just been something internal that was slow to show up. I had a Muscovy duckling[female] who never would go an forage would rather lay around instead of being with the other ducklings. I thought maybe her heart wasn't strong. She lived to be 4 months old. I didn't do a necropsy so I can only guess what she died of. But saying this because sometimes it is visual they have a problem sometimes not until too late. We all can only speculate on what killed your drake. Hopefully it was just with him though and the others will continue to thrive.
Yes I did find that out after I got them because one had neurological issues and ended up passing but he had been to the vet just a couple of months ago and they said they felt he was a good weight but he did have issues with his feet from walking on the pavement but he was treated and geting better I even have x-ray of him because his toe bone was swollen and I was worried the staff went into his foot but it didn’t but I have an x-ray if basically the whole body

Did the vet say everything looked good on the xrays?
Yes but they weren’t really looking for anything besides his foot , they did notice he had some little pieces of metal in his stomach but they said that was normal and he would just poop it out

How do you tell if they got into anything toxic, so you can catch it before anything happens? My girls are molting right now, but I've been more attentive since I only have 3 now.
This I feel everyone who owns animals should have saved. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/flushes-for-aiding-in-toxin-removal.700526/

I am a big fan or the activated charcoal. Haven't had to use it on any of my birds but my dogs yes. You know how they will eat anything even if rotted.:sick Activated charcoal has been the best for upset tummy. Great to have for humans too.

From what I read about ducks and metal is they definitely should not injest anything metal not even rust and it acts like serious poison to them - as it breaks down and enters their bloodstream <which can kill them> or sharp edges tears their insides. -

I go over any area I'm going to have them in clearing it of anything that could harm them, yes I know some things you can't help <great stuff foam eaters> but they saw that in his xrays?

However, if I'm wrong and just highly paranoid <which I am> @casportpony or @Miss Lydia will correct me :)
