Featherfinder, sorry for the loss. I don't know why I didn't see this yesterday.
Since you are in P. Park, call the SPCA, they used to rent traps as did animal services it may not be much cheaper than buying but I don't know how much they cost down there. Up here, they are about $20-25. If you buy you could resell once you are sure there are no more. Unless laws have changed in the last few years, they cannot rerelease a trapped raccoon for fear of potential rabies. When I worked at the SPCA (a while ago), we would euthanize raccoons brought in in traps.
I only scimmed the thread but use caution or check with the police before shooting. In the city limits it is against the law to discharge.
See what you can do about keeping the rest safe since the raccoon will continue to come back.
And if you trap the coon, use caution, they are NASTY buggers and VERY strong.
