Dead Ducks. Any idea whay could have done this?

Hi, I am sorry to hear that. I know that I am not really in the conversation but i saw that you live in Flordia. It maby could of been a gator that killed your two ducks???? I am just taking a guess because alot of people that live in Flordia that i know has alot of comeplants about gators eating their cats and dogs.

That is true for people that live near the water here. I do not live on the water though so a gator could not live in my neightborhood or have a way into my back yead. It is all fenced in. Thank you

Featherfinder, sorry for the loss. I don't know why I didn't see this yesterday.

Since you are in P. Park, call the SPCA, they used to rent traps as did animal services it may not be much cheaper than buying but I don't know how much they cost down there. Up here, they are about $20-25. If you buy you could resell once you are sure there are no more. Unless laws have changed in the last few years, they cannot rerelease a trapped raccoon for fear of potential rabies. When I worked at the SPCA (a while ago), we would euthanize raccoons brought in in traps.

I only scimmed the thread but use caution or check with the police before shooting. In the city limits it is against the law to discharge.

See what you can do about keeping the rest safe since the raccoon will continue to come back.

And if you trap the coon, use caution, they are NASTY buggers and VERY strong.

Gun laws are still the same. I will try the SPCA. And traps are $45 at homedepot. Sorry to say but one of the girls that was attacked was the blue female I got from you awhile back. Just to let you know she was a great momma this past year.

I am in Lithia (outside Tampa) so probably a haul to pick up and drop back off a trap. I am more than willing to let you use it though My experience is everyday we bait the trap we get a coon or possum I hope your situation is different - I live by conservation so have loads of critters to deal with.

Baylor, You are only a little over an hour away from me so not that bad of a drive. I will have to talk to my BF and see if he is up for the drive or if he just wants to buy one. We were talking last night but wanted to wait and see what you said.


I replaced the door last night and it came back. The bottom half has scratch marks and is missing a good chunk in the corner but I put a cinder block behind the door last night for reinforcement and it couldn't get threw. This thing is persistent. Are they always like this?
