Is it bad that I want to go out to the coop, and strangle my rooster ? Right now this would give me great pleasure.

He has been crowing every 12 to 15 seconds, since 3:00 am this morning. Yes I counted the seconds between crows !!!

It's now 6:15 am.

This is a daily ritual, and I'm getting really tired of it. At this point I have one nerve left, and he's pecking the crud out of it !!!

Two words come to mind ….. Bullet, and Brain …..

Anyone else have this dilemma ?

EDIT : I'm (probably) not gonna strangle, or shoot him, (today) but, all bets are off if this continues.

You own him. You can take him out anytime you decide.

I had a close friend, deceased, who in her younger days was a farm wife. She had a Leghorn roo that was a tyrant in every way. One day, she had her last nerve "got on" by this demon, and she grabbed her hunting rifle and shot him from her kitchen window.

Problem solved.

Lol, thanks for the replies ….. I knew I couldn't be the only one with this problem.

He is an almost 2 year old Barred Rock, Is very friendy, and takes good care of the girls, so I am very hesitant to dispatch him.

I'm in the middle of nowhere, so no lights from cars, or anything, BUT, there is a dusk to dawn light, in close proximity to the coop. Could he be seeing this light through the windows, and reacting to that ?

I'm up early anyway, (not 3:00am) it's just he WON"T STOP !!!

I will try leaving the light off for a few nights and see if this helps.

Thanks for the replies …..

A couple opinions from my end. Personally I don’t mind the crowing...if that’s your only problem with him, then I’d rehome him. As for what the others said about taking out? I did have a very very mean roo. One day I had it! Yes, we did the deed. I don’t miss him. We now have two younger cockerels, who are much much nicer to us. But, if it does get out of control...I will handle the situation again...after all, I’m a farmer....I cannot have dangerous animals here.
