Dead Rooster !

Ah, so just about long enough for the buffet to be noticed...
..and maybe him to get comfortable enough to sound off more.

He can hear tho...anything on the cameras?

Is there food and water in the coop...or only outside in the run?

Not a thing on the cameras, I just checked.

There is food and water available in the coop, 24 / 7.

Guess you just got a 'yeller'.
Earplugs?

I just called the guy I got the chickens from, and he was not there, BUT, his boss (wife) ranted on for several minutes about the noisy rooster, and how close it came to the stew pot on several occasions.

I asked her if they wanted him back, and after a hysterical laugh, got a resounding - - - - NO !!!

Funny thing is, this guy is a good friend, and he never mentioned a word to me about this !!! Go figure !!!

He had them in a open run / weak attempt at a coop, exposed to lights as well, so, I'm gonna try to keep it darker around my coop, and see if that helps.

If I see (hear) no improvement in a week or so, something will have to change.

Lol, thanks for the replies ….. I knew I couldn't be the only one with this problem.

He is an almost 2 year old Barred Rock, Is very friendy, and takes good care of the girls, so I am very hesitant to dispatch him.

I'm in the middle of nowhere, so no lights from cars, or anything, BUT, there is a dusk to dawn light, in close proximity to the coop. Could he be seeing this light through the windows, and reacting to that ?

I'm up early anyway, (not 3:00am) it's just he WON"T STOP !!!

I will try leaving the light off for a few nights and see if this helps.

Thanks for the replies …..
We have a security light put in by the power company. It comes on at dusk. The birds are out of line-of-sight to it, but when we had our own security light on, thinking it would deter preditors, they all started crowing extremely early. Without the light, depending on moonlight strength, they start from 4:30-5.
